Does What It Says, October 1, 2009

If you have albums that you took care of and want to convert them to an easier to use format like CD then this is the product for you.The ION TTUSB05 Turntable was easy to setup and begin using right out of the box.The package included two recording softwares EZ Vinyl Recorder which is straight-forward no frills and Audacity which has a learning curve that I have not had the time to get to yet.Put an album on..hit the record button and away you go..you do have to pay attention with EZ Vinyl if you wish to separate the tracks as you go but that is not so bad if you are enjoying your classic sounds anyway. It also doesn't have any tools for removing pops and clicks but if your albums are in good condition, as many of mine are, your finished product will sound great! When I learn the process for recording with Audacity I will post again but right now I am enjoying being able to listen to my classic albums in an easy to use format like CD.The first albums I converted were Mandre "Mandre",Seawind "Window Of A Child" and Captain Sky "The Adventures of Captain Sky" three albums that I could not find on CD anywhere(reasonably priced that is).I popped them into my CD carousel put on shuffle and I have been listening to them non-stop since. For what I would have had to pay for these albums at "import" prices(if I could even find them)this turntable has already paid for itself and I get to use it again and again!Buy..Try..Enjoy.
iTunes 9 compatability problem , September 29, 2009
By Anonymous
Just a warning. As of this writing, September 29, 2009 there is a problem with compatibility with iTunes 9. I have corresponded with ION technical support and they say, "Currently EZ Vinyl Converter is not supported with iTunes 9.0. We are working on a fix. [...]
On some occasions the software works and on others it does not--I can record tracks but get the error message: "unable to export to iTunes."
The turntable is product is great, but if you use iTunes 9 (and unless you want to use the Audacity recording method--far more time consuming [my experience]) you may not be able to use this until they fix the software.

Affordable, Basic USB Turntable , August 12, 2009
By Indie Insomniac (Bradenton, FL USA)
There's nothing spectacular about this turntable, but given the price and availability of turntables this is actually decent for those new to vinyl records or anyone with a pile of old dusty records they haven't played in years. This is a fairly straight forward turntable if just playing a record. The USB feature allows for the added plus of importing and editing. This may be alluring to anyone wanting to convert their old records to play on their computers or mp3 players or to even make cds. The software provided is ideal for both beginners and those with a little experience importing music. My only issue is that importing the music with the USB doesn't provide excellent audio quality. Some music transfers alright, but most of the time the audio seems kind of dull and lifeless. I've found that audio quality is a little better if you get a cable to connect the turntable's stereo RCA cables to your computer's microphone or audio input jack. If you're looking for a basic turntable for playing or recording music, this is it. However, if you are a true audiophile there are better, albeit, more expensive options out there.
Pros:
>Simple design.
>Decent price for a USB turntable.
>Acceptable audio quality.
>Audio recording software for beginners and those with a little experience.
>Plays at 33 1/3 and 45 rpm, with adapter for playing 45s.
>Dust cover.
>Buttons for raising and lowering tone arm and stopping record playback.
Cons:
>USB doesn't provide great audio quality.
>Not the most attractive turntable.
